Major regional expansion for
GVAV at Centenary Court

GVAV has been providing high-tech, innovative audio visual solutions to the public and private sector for almost 50 years through its national network of branches. From university lecture theatres and council chambers to corporate conference rooms and healthcare settings, GVAV’s North West office is well established in the region and has some big clients, but it needed more space to grow. With the completion of Centenary Court at Moss Industrial Estate in 2025, the right unit became available for GVAV.

Jain McGarty is the Branch Manager of GVAV’s North West, North Wales and Northern Ireland office, based in the brand-new Centenary Court at Moss Industrial Estate.

When was the business founded?

“GVAV was founded almost 50 years ago in 1976. Our Head Office is in London, and we have regional offices in Exeter, Coventry, Seaham, Dundee, and here in Greater Manchester, so we are strategically placed to serve our customers right across the UK.”

Just like Moss Industrial Estate, GVAV is a family-run business and is very proud of its family roots and its caring culture. The North West regional branch has been based in the Leigh area for 24 years, however more recently has been searching for the right unit to help facilitate commercial growth, which it found at Moss Industrial Estate.

How has the business grown?

“We need a lot of storage and warehouse space and we were sharing central facilities with seven other businesses in our previous unit. Our new unit at Centenary Court is fitted out for purpose and a huge expansion. With our own dedicated unit, we have much more space for storage, engineering, and sales teams.

“We work with some really big organisations like The University of Manchester, Lancaster University, and Greater Manchester Combined Authority, so we need lots of space to build bespoke Audio Visual control systems and video conferencing units.

What are the main benefits of being based at Moss Industrial Estate?

“We first looked at a unit here back in 2001 but unfortunately the right unit wasn’t available at the time. Moss Industrial Estate is quite different to other estates and Centenary Court is very special. The layout and fit out of our unit has been purpose-designed bespoke to our needs with large warehousing space, a dedicated technical build area, and a sales floor with meeting spaces. The grounds are very well maintained with stunning views overlooking Pennington Flash Nature Reserve, making it a very attractive place to work. The location is perfect for us strategically with fantastic access to the region thanks to close links to the M6 and M62.

“The sustainability credentials of the estate are very impressive, including solar panels and EV charging points for our fleet of electric cars. These factors are very important to us as a high-tech company working towards sustainability targets, and is also a big consideration for our clients, as they want to keep their environmental impact as low as possible.

“I’d like to extend our gratitude to Dave Willmore and the team at Moss Industrial Estate for going above and beyond in assisting us with the leasing process and making us feel so welcome since our move.

Tell us about the North West GVAV team?

“We have a team of 12 here in Leigh, and we work with clients right across the North West, North Wales, and Northern Ireland. Our team design, supply, and install bespoke AV systems for small meetings rooms with Microsoft Teams connectivity, right through to 300 seat lecture theatres with professional audio, and user-friendly control systems built into specialist lecterns.

“We also have a national integrated design team so that all our specialist audio visual systems can be replicated right across the UK.”

What does the future have in store for GVAV?

“Our industry is fast paced and technology changes quickly, so we always need to be one step ahead and ready to adapt. We were very restricted in our previous unit but now we have the space to expand with modern facilities and increased capacity to match our ambition. Our next step will be to recruit and further grow our team here in the North West as we move into our 50th year as a business in 2026.”
